NDIS & DSOA Dietitian Consultation Fees
Appetite for Nutrition is a registered provider of NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) and DSOA (Disability Support for Older Australians).
If you would like to make an appointment, please complete our Referral Form here. We will then contact you to organise a home visit, or telehealth appointment.

Initial (60 min): $188.99
- Your initial consultation will commence with a nutritional health assessment, which will create the foundations for your dietitian to work with you to develop a personalized nutrition care plan.
- Your nutrition care plan will focus on nutrition education, goal setting and strategies, and may involve resources such as goal related handouts, educational nutrition material, or meal/snack ideas specific to your needs.
- (Please note: this session does not include a personalized weekly meal plan)
- All DSOA and NDIS participants (Plan-managed, NDIA- managed & Self- managed) are charged at $188.99 per hour.

Review Appointments
- Your initial consultation will commence with a nutritional health assessment, which will create the foundations for your dietitian to work with you to develop a personalized nutrition care plan.
- Your nutrition care plan will focus on nutrition education, goal setting and strategies, and may involve resources such as goal related handouts, educational nutrition material, or meal/snack ideas specific to your needs.

- All DSOA and NDIS participants (Plan-managed, NDIA- managed & Self- managed) are charged at $188.99 per hour.

Travel Fees (Home Visits)
- NDIS allows providers to claim up to 60 minutes of travel in total for each appointment.
- This includes the time required for the dietitian to travel to the participant and return to the office for clinical documentation and safety reporting.
- Travel is charged at 50% of the NDIS therapy rate ($94.50/hr):
- 30 minutes travel – $47.25
- 40 minutes travel – $63.00
- 60 minutes travel (maximum allowable) – $94.50
- Our dietitians provide home visits to participants living in Melbourne, Bendigo, Albury, Shepparton, and the Gold Coast.

Private Paying Consultation Fees
These fees are applicable to private paying clients.

Initial (60 min): $220
- Your initial consultation will commence with a nutritional health assessment, which will create the foundations for your dietitian to work with you to develop a personalized nutrition care plan.
- Your nutrition care plan will focus on nutrition education, goal setting and strategies, and may involve resources such as goal related handouts, educational nutrition material, or meal/snack ideas specific to your needs.
- (Please note: this session does not include a personalized weekly meal plan)

Review (30 mins) - $120
- Your review appointment is an opportunity to check in with your dietitian and discuss your progress with your nutrition care plan. Your dietitian may like to review pathology test results as another measure of progress.
- This session may involve further nutrition education and discussing further lifestyle recommendations to support you on your health journey.
- (Please note: Home visit review appointments are minimum 1hour $193.99)

Extended Consultation Fees (45min, 90min, 120min)
- An extended review may be required if you have complex needs. The longer duration provides more time for you to ask questions and receive advice and education on how to best manage your care.
- Extended Appointment Fees
- 45 mins duration – $180
- 90 min duration – $335
- 120 min duration – $440
- If an extended review is required, your dietitian will discuss this with you.

Travel Fees (Home Visits)
- Home Visits
- For clients who need support at home, we offer in-home consultations. These require a minimum 1-hour session.
- Home Visit (1 hour): $220.00 (standard)
- Travel Fees for Home Visits:

Rebates & Billing

Medicare Chronic Disease (CDMP) & Eating Disorder Plan (EDP)
- If your GP has prepared a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Medicare Eating Disorder Plan, Medicare will rebate $61.80 per eligible dietitian consultation.
- Consultation Fees (From 1 July 2025)
- If your GP has prepared a Chronic Disease Management Plan, Medicare will rebate $61.80 per eligible dietitian consultation.
- Consultation Fees:
- Standard Consultation (30 min): $120
- → Out-of-pocket cost after rebate: $58.20
- Note: A standard consultation does not include a customised meal plan. This can be added for an additional cost.

- 45 minutes: $180
- 60 minutes: $220

Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)
- Gold and White Cardholders will be fully bulk billed for DVA appointments (GP referral required).
- Home visits are available.
- There are no gap fees for DVA appointments. All appointments are charged as per the DVA Price Guide.

Work Safe Cover
- Appetite for Nutrition is registered with WorkSafe Victoria.
- Updated Rebates (Effective July 2024):
- Initial Appointment: $70.64
- Review Appointment: $57.06
- Consultation Fees:
- Standard Consultation (30 min): $120
- → Out-of-pocket cost after rebate: $49.36 (initial) or $62.94 (review)
- Note: A standard consultation does not include a customised meal plan. This can be added for an additional cost.
- Extended Appointments:
- 45 minutes: $180
- 60 minutes: $220
- An extended review may be required for complex needs. The longer duration provides more time to ask questions and receive tailored advice on managing your care. Your dietitian will discuss this with you if needed.

Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
- Appetite for Nutrition is registered with TAC
- We are registered with TAC for the above rate fees, and all consultations are 100% funded by TAC – no gap fee applies for eligible clients.
- TAC Funding Details:
- Initial Consultation (60 minutes): $193.99
- Review Consultation (30 minutes): $96.99
- Travel time: Up to 60 minutes total (30 minutes each way) is fully covered by TAC.
- Consultation Fees:
- There are no out-of-pocket expenses for TAC clients.
- TAC fully covers the cost of both initial and review consultations.
- Note: These sessions do not include a customized weekly meal plan, which is available at an additional cost.
- Home Visits:
- A minimum 1-hour duration applies for all home visit consultations (initial and review).

Aged Care Package
- We provide nutrition services for clients with Aged Care Packages.
- Nursing and residential home visits are available.
- Please refer to Private Fees above for pricing details.

Private Health Insurance
- Appetite for Nutrition does not have a HICAPS machine, so claims will need to be made after full payment for the consultation.
- Costs may be claimable through private health insurance extras cover – please check with your health fund to confirm eligibility.
Fees & Cancellations
Failure to attend
If you are going to be late for an appointment, please let your dietitian know. Failure to arrive at the appointment within 10-15minutes of your appointment, will result in forfeit of session & incur a cancellation fee.
Rescheduling policy
Any appointment that is rescheduled two or more times consecutively will be treated as a cancellation and charged a 50% cancellation fee. A new appointment will not be rescheduled until the fee is paid.
Cancellation policy
Cancellation with less than 48 hours notice will incur 50% cancellation fee of service cost Cancellation with less than 24 hours notice will incur a 100% cancellation fee of service cost (plus travel cost if dietitian has arrived at property).
